Girbent, who initially introduced himself as a mere copyist of old masters finally revealed himself as the sole architect of this proposal , his fourth delivery of the exhibition cycle PICTURES.

From the foregoing clarification it can be concluded that the video of the false curator turns out to be another piece of the exhibition and thus the narration of the facts becomes pure fiction.

Girbent‘s aim is to invite the spectator to reflect upon some of the most recurrent themes of his universe, such as the persistent dilemma between the original and the copy, the issue around authorship (and its misattributions) and the power of the narrative… an absolutely current issue given the way information is broadcasted by the media at present.

On the other hand, with Vermeer/Girbent, the artist’s intention was to offer his audience the type of emotion stirred in him by outstanding fiction works of his own archive such as the film F for fake by Welles or the novel Un cabinet d'amateur by Perec.
